Look At This...

It's ours!!
After months of looking and saving money, weeks of deciding and budgeting and hours of praying, pondering, and researching, we decided to get this 2003 family Dodge caravan!  We got such an amazing deal on it and couldn't let it go by. I know we're probably considered pretty young to get a mini van, and possibly be considered a little "nerdy" (especially since SUVs are more stylish and roomy..but also more expensive) but it is what our family has been needing.  We hardly have any space in our current car now and it's not as safe.  Plus we've had to repair our car so many times that it was beginning to be a pain.  Our car is only worth about $700 so any repairs made on it over that will be more than the car itself!  Sad I know!  Not only will we have 2 cars now which in and of itself will be such a luxury and blessing but we'll have room to grow!

We'll actually be able to fit our double stroller in the trunk as well as grocery's, etc.  This isn't the main reason why we wanted/needed a new car, but it's definitely a plus.  Mainly, we just felt it was time, more safe and better for our growing family overall to purchase this vehicle.  It definitely has made me nervous, scared, excited and a whole bunch of emotions overall while making the decision since this has been our biggest purchase ever but I know and have felt comforted that this was the right decision.  What  a great thing we have in the Gospel to know that we can receive answers to our prayers and feel comforted in our decisions.  I am truely grateful and feel so blessed!

Now don't make fun of us when watching us drive a minivan around..instead just remember that if you ever need a ride anywhere, we'll now have plenty of room! :)

2 Months Old

Tayven is 2 months old today!  Can you believe it?  Seriously...where does the time go?  I feel like all I do these days is feed him, feed Kyla, clean up after the messes, put them both to sleep, change diapers 20 times a day and try to get in some fresh air outside but that doesn't seem to always happen.  I wouldn't want it any other way and I love being a busy mom taking care of the cutest kids in the world!

Here is Tayven's stats from his 2 month checkup yesterday.
Weight: 11lbs 1 oz--30th Percentile
Height: 23 inches--50th Percentile
Head Circumference: 15 in--10th Percentile
As far as a Kyla update goes here is her most recent saying quoted from Aladdin:
At the very end of the movie Jasmine says, "I choose you Aladdin."  She quotes this quite frequently but the other day she said, "I choose you A-Daddy".  It was so cute!  She is quite the little jokester around here. She makes us laugh every day! :)

Tayven's Blessing

We have had quite the busy weekend!  Since it was Tayven's baby blessing on Sunday we had lots of family and friends come up to visit.  Friday evening my high school best friends (minus one who had to work) came up from Utah and stayed with us.  My brother, Brian also came in that night.  We watched a movie, played games, played at the splash park, rode the carousel, played at the park, Karianne got a really cute haircut while Bonnie and Makella took a nap and Hyrum, Brian and I (and the kids) went to part of a family reunion, and just had lots of exciting fun!  My Dad and grandparents came in Saturday night and it was the first time my dad was able to see Brian since he's returned from his mission so it was quite the exciting reunion for them especially.  Our friends the Smithson's were also able to come up from Utah so we were so excited to see them for a little bit.

Aren't they so photogenic?!

Kyla and Makella play so well together.  They are definitely best friends! :)

Sunday was Tayven's very special day....his blessing.  We had about 25 or so people in attendance at church and then they all came over afterwards for an informal dinner we had outside of our apartment.  It was so nice and Tayven was given such a beautiful blessing by Hyrum.

This picture just makes me laugh because Kyla is soooo tired and Tayven's just had enough pictures.  I think this is how family pictures from now on will end up being....sorry, no smiles from the kiddos anymore! :)

Speaking of "family pictures", this is about the best shot we got of all the grandkids with grandma and grandpa.  I love the facial expressions!  Kyla is copying Grandpa and Kyler couldn't sit still for a second! haha.

Our family with the Smithson Family

I just love this picture!  This is my Grandpa with Tayven.

One reason why we chose Boyd for Tayven's middle name is because it's Hyrum's side of the family tradition.  It's been a 6 generation middle name with all the first born boys.  Here is the 4 living generations with the middle name of Boyd! It's pretty neat.

Tayven is so easy to make smile.  He's such a smiley, happy baby!  These are my 2 favorite boys!

My friends left Sunday night, my grandparents left Monday morning, and Brian and my Dad left today.  As much as we enjoy having family and friends around all the time, we are glad to try to get back to normal schedules again (Kyla's been cranky from lack of sleep and Tayven's been pretty fussy from all the excitement going on so needless to say I'm happy they're almost back to normal today!)  My dad will be returning next week for a couple more days so are excited to be able to spend a little bit more time with him before he heads back to his home in Nebraska.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend filled with friends and family and food.  It can't get too much better than that! :)

The Want-O-Meter

I love reading Amiee's posts and I like writing. Since this is a family blog I'll try to post more frequently. You'll have to put up with my weird posts though.

I thought this graph described most kids I know:

4th of July

Our 4th of July this year was filled with all sorts of fun!  It included:

A Parade

Cute outfits

Family

Swimming

Fireworks

and Kyla singing "You're a Grand Old Flag" about a hundred times!

We also wrote with chalk on the sidewalk, played with bubbles and Kyla rode her trike.  The day before Tayven and I went to Wyoming (Kyla and Hyrum stayed home because Kyla wasn't feeling very well) with Hyrums family and shot off some "illegal" fireworks (By illegal I mean they're illegal in Idaho but legal in Wyoming so we didn't break any laws...don't worry!)  We had quite the adventure getting stuck in the mud, dealing with having our picnic in the rain, and almost having the canoe fly off their van!  It was so much fun though.  I didn't take any pictures there unfortunately so you'll just have to use your imagination.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Today, July 1st marks Kyla's 1/2 birthday and since she was born on January 1st, only a week after Christmas, things can get kind of complicated for a 2 year old who can have no new toys for a whole year!  So we kind of have started a little tradition (which I'm sure will change as more kids come into the picture so they're not feeling left out) where we will give her her main birthday present on her 1/2 birthday!

As soon as she woke up we gave her her gift (thus the hair fro). This time we got her a red tricycle!!  Hyrum and I were quite excited about this gift and she absolutely loves it.  She's already pretty much got it down and is learning how to ride it so quickly.  It's amazing how she already is old enough to ride a bike.  She is getting so grown up!

Happy Birthday!

In celebration of her birthday, Hyrum's mom wanted to take whoever could come to the splash park and have a picnic.  It was a lot of fun and such a nice, warm day out.  Kyla wore herself out and took a nice long nap afterwards.  We all got some sun so it's nice to see a little more color (whether red or tan) around here.  Here's what we did:
Had a picnic in the park (Nathan is laying down in the grass and Heidi is taking the picture but they were there too!)

Played at the Splash Park

Rode on the Carousel (Kyla's absolute favorite part of the day!)....

....while Grandpa held Tayven during his lunch break! (Can you believe they charge $1.00 for newborns to be on the carousel too?! That's absolutely crazy!)
We also played on the toys at the park (sorry, no picture for that one.) We had such a fun day and hope that Grandma had a fun birthday!  Happy Birthday Grandma/Mom!

Just Some Ordinary News

So believe it or not I honestly think Tayven is teething...already! He's only 5 1/2 weeks old!  It may take months before the tooth actually comes through but I can totally feel it in his mouth.  I know...crazy huh?  I guess some babies come out of the womb having teeth though so I guess it is possible!  Another new thing for Tayven is that he can play with his toys while sitting in the bouncer.  He'll totally bat at them and get so excited.  The other day he discovered his hands and just looked at them for a bit.  I don't know if he knew they actually belonged to him because he hasn't done it since but it was still cute nonetheless.  How come HE has to grow up just as fast as Kyla is?  Can't they just slow down a little?!

Yesterday Kyla managed to find time in the literally 1 minute I was in the bathroom to completly knock Tayven over and out of his bouncer onto the floor.  Luckily, he didn't get hurt and was fine for the most part, but let me just say that Kyla and I had a pretty long talk. :)  Between Kyla's constant poking at Tayven's eyes and pushing him over, I'm hoping he won't end up blind or battered.  hehe.  It'll be interesting to see what poor child #7 has to put up with.  I guess I'll start praying for him/her now!

Camping

We decided to be daring and attend our ward camping trip this weekend.  It was such much fun!  Since it's been raining for the last 3 weeks we were very blessed to have a beautiful day and night on Friday and Saturday with no rain at all!  With Tayven being so little we weren't sure how he was going to do but he was so perfect!  He slept pretty much the whole time we were camping waking up only to eat.

Kyla of course had a lot of fun being outside for so long and showing off to everyone in the ward.  She hasn't been as shy around strangers lately and she will go up to anyone, take their hand, and show them her room, her toys or whatever she loves most about where she is at the time.  While camping, she had to show multiple people where her tent and sleeping bag bed was, as well as wanting them to take her for a walk.  We're so glad that the people in our ward that she "made friends with" played along and were so willing to follow her wherever she wanted.  All in all, it was a short yet fun camping trip.  Since Hyrum and I both absolutely love camping, we will be planning at least 3 or 4 more campouts this summer so we are quite excited!  Stay tuned for pictures and posts of our other camping adventures this summer.  If anyone wants to join us just let us know!

Special

There's always something very special about a new baby and one of those things I have enjoyed about my children is when I look at them when they are so new and innocent and they seem so familiar like I've seen and known them before.  They always have felt like they've been with us forever...like we've met them before we came down to this earthly life.  Maybe we have or maybe we haven't but it is still so amazing to think and wonder about the possible person this little being will become.  How strong and valiant they are to be living in this time and how strong they're going to have to still be to survive the temptations of this world.  It is truley amazing.  What a wonderful gift we have been given to raise up Heavenly Fathers children in the Gospel.  I sure hope I can do a good job with all the trust that has been given to me!  It seems like the more children I have the more children I want, which I'm sure means with more children brings even more joy and happiness. I sure can't wait to see what Heavenly Father holds in store for us and our family in the years to come!  Families are definitely forever..and I wouldn't want it any other way!

1 Month Old

Tayven turned 1 month old today!  I seriously can not believe it!  Time has just flown by.  He currently smiles all the time when he's happy and gets so excited when we're playing with him.  As of last week he weighed 8lbs 9 oz and was 20 1/2 in long which puts him in the 25% for weight and 10% for height.  He's growing like a weed and is still such a great baby!  Happy 1 Month Birthday Tayven! We sure love you!

Here are a few more of our favorite pictures from the photo session with the Rognon's.  There are so many more that we like but we'll have to post those a different time!  They certainly turned out beautiful!

Sneak Peak!

The Rognon's are just regular college students and as a hobby are awesome photographers as well.  Since they are trying to build their photography portfolio and hadn't ever done many newborn baby pictures they advertised to do some newborn shots for free and we totally jumped on the opportunity!  Here is a sneak peak of just a few they took of Tayven and our family.  Once I pick up the CD they have ready of all the rest, we'll post some of our favorites. They did amazing and we couldn't be happier. Thanks so much Rognon's!

Smile!

I finally caught the end of Tayven smiling in a picture I took today!  He started smiling at 2 weeks and everytime we tried to get the camera when he was smiling a lot he would be done smiling so I got pretty lucky to get this shot!  His real smile is much bigger but like I said...I snapped the picture at the end of it so it's more of a 1/2 smile.  Enjoy!
