Wow! I love editing!

I have found a new loved hobby--photography and editing! Although I have always enjoyed photography, I never really got very into it. I am not very good at all which has been why I haven't done a lot of it. I am not creative enough I guess to get the cool angles or the unique ideas I've always imagined, and I don't have the right camera to do a lot anyway. Well yesterday I took a few shots of Kyla and used a few simple editing tools and for one of the first times ever I LOVED what I did! What do you think?? Don't get me wrong, it's definitely NOT professional by any means, but for me, it's a HUGE improvement and it gives me more motivation to keep trying this photography thing out!

Hyrum and Kyla had a daddy-daughter date a couple weeks ago. As you can see they played in the snow!! She definitely loves the snow. That smile is priceless!

One other thing....American Idol has been going on for a few weeks now and I just have to say that my favorites are David Archuleta, David Cook and Carly Smithson. I hope any of those three win it! They are absolutely AMAZING and so inspiring! Good luck to my 3 favorite American Idols!

I love Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter! Saturday morning the Easter bunny came and Kyla had so much fun looking at what was in her basket. She was so excited in fact (as well as Hyrum and I were) that we all opened our easter baskets with our PJS on! We then hid a few eggs around the house and she went for an easter egg hunt and had so much fun putting them in her basket after she found them all! Her favorite part about Easter though has been the candy and chocolate. Her breakfast on Sat was definitely candy...oops!

On Sunday we went to church of course and then decided that we needed to take some family pictures, so we made our own backdrop and here are some of the results! We've been playing around with a little photo editing too so it's been fun. (see here for the free website we use)

We then had Easter dinner with Hyrum's grandparents and family. It is always so much fun to get together with lots of family!

All in all, we had a wonderful day and a wonderful Easter! More important than knowing about Easter eggs and candy on Easter though is knowing that Jesus Christ Lives! He had suffered, died and has been resurrected for all of us so we can live with him again. That is why I love Easter!

Moving Apartments

It's kind of funny how Hyrum and I don't like moving at all yet it seems like we've done it once a year! We've been in 3 apartments so far in the 3 years we've been married and now we're moving to our 4th one! Is it because we like change? Maybe. Is it because we always find better deals than the one we currently are at? Probably. Is it because we're in something small now? YES!

We didn't want to have to move out of our current ward because it's one of the best ones we've been in, yet we have never really been quite satisfied with Heartland. The only reason we're in Heartland now is because it honestly was the ONLY one open at the time we were looking for a place to live. Don't get me wrong, they're really nice for the price and we have an amazing ward and amazing friends from moving into Heartland and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way; however, it's just sooo small for us right now it seems like. (Anyone else think Heartland is small??) With a walking 1 year old, toys get everywhere in matter in minutes, I always trip or stub my toe over something that's in the way and we don't even have a place for our kitchen table which I desperately miss! So to solve this problem and after a few phone calls, we're moving into Andrews Pl apartments! Those apartments are ones that we've always liked, they're much bigger, and rent will be the exact same price as it would if we stayed in Heartland! Worth it? I DEFINITELY think so! Anyway, we move in on April 12th and are getting very excited! We will be living in 880 Andrews Pl #3 which will be our new address for those of you who wanted it. Anyway, yay for bigger apartments! :)

3rd Anniversary

This blog is dedicated to my one true love, Hyrum. Today is a very special day for us. 3 years ago at 10:30 am (PST) in the beautiful and glorious Portland Oregon Temple, Hyrum and I were married and sealed for time and all eternity as we knelt across the alter from each other. 3 years have flown by yet they have been the best 3 years of my entire life! I just wanted to say that I am so very blessed and grateful to have such a wonderful, loving and special husband. Hyrum is very sweet, kind, spiritual, musical, funny, and absolutely amazing which are only a few of the small things of what I love about him. I can't imagine living my life any other way if he wasn't a part of it. Marrying him has brought the best out of me, as well as helped me to become better in all that I do. Thank you Hyrum for being who you are and for loving me inspite of all my weaknesses. I am grateful also to our all-knowing and wise Heavenly Father who guided our footsteps and our paths together in order to find, meet and eventually love each other. I am so happy that we've been married for 3 years and am even more happier to know that we'll have many many more years happily married in this life and in all eternity! I love you Hyrum and Happy Anniversary!

Love Bird Tag

1. Where did you and your husband meet?

We both took a singing class at BYU-Idaho. Hyrum asked me out during finals week and I said yes. We became really great friends right off the bat!

2. First thing you said to each other.
I was actually the first one to say something I think. We were in our singing class and he just got done singing a solo. I turned around when he sat down and I said, "I LOVE your voice! You're so good!" (Or something really close to that) Then he smiled and said, "Thanks."

3. What was your first date?
Our first date was so awesome! After he picked me up we went into the Snow building on BYU-Idaho campus and found a grand piano that was open. Since we both play piano and write music, we played a couple songs for each other that we wrote previously. Then we decided that we wanted to write one together! We wrote it in about 40 min or so. It was the best song! (click HERE to listen) Then we picked up one of his friends and we all went to a cookout. It was great!

4. Where was your first kiss?
It was on top of the hill by the water tower. When there wasn't any houses built up there, there was a look out. It was raining so our first kiss and Hyrum's first EVER kiss was outside in the rain! How romantic....sigh.

5. Long or short courtship/engagement?
Pretty short over all! We were friends for 5 1/2 months (now when I say friends I mean Hyrum was chasing me wanting to be more than friends and I was running because I didn't want to be more than friends!), dated officially for 3 weeks and then were engaged for 4 1/2 months.

6. Where did you get engaged?
It was on Hyrum's birthday so I wasn't even expecting it! Hyrum took me to the recital hall of the snow building where there was some music on the grand piano. The lights were shining on the piano too. We sat down and he played a song he wrote for me. In the chorus, it said, "Amiee, will you be my bride?" (If you want to see the lyrics of the whole song let me know and I'll post them or something.) After the whole song, he got out the beautiful ring, proposed and then handed me a dozen roses! It was so amazing and so perfect.

7. Where were you married?
One of my very favorite temples--Portland Oregon Temple.

8. Where did you honeymoon?
We went to Las Vegas! It was so fun to be able to walk around and see all the cool things. It's a really neat place if you ignore all the filth. :)

It Didn't Work Out

Some of you knew, some of you didn't but we're not going to Arizona this summer. Originally, we were planning on moving to Arizona so Hyrum could do an internship for Edward Jones in their computer programming department at the headquarters. His aunt is the general partner for the company and said she could help get him the internship. After waiting for quite some time, we insisted on knowing if he got the internship or not, especially since the semester ends in 5 weeks. Hyrum's aunt called him back and said that there were no internships available but that by next year there would be and one of the computer guys said he was interested in Hyrum for a different semester when they're more established (they haven't ever had a computer program intern in AZ). Anyway, to make a long story short after some thinking and before his aunt called, we were actually having second thoughts about moving to AZ and was thinking of just staying here. After praying about what we should do for a couple days, that's when Hyrum's aunt called to tell us the news. It was a direct answer to our prayers and we know that the Lord wants and needs us here in Rexburg for a bit longer before we leave somewhere. We are so grateful for that answer!

As of now we'll be living in our same apartment but if anyone in the 75th Ward knows of anyone moving out of Andrews Pl or Everett Pl we would love to live in those apartments since they're a little bit bigger and in our same ward! Keep your eyes and ears open and let me know if you hear of anyone! Thanks!!

Oh and Kyla slept through the night again last night!! That's twice in one week! Wahoo!

It's Official!

It's finally official!! Kyla is fully and completely weaned and she slept through the night last night! This is a REALLY good sign for her since last night was only her second time EVER sleeping through the night. Yippie! It was a long process but it finally worked at 14 months for her.

You Know You're Hyrum's Kid When...

1) She knows how to turn on/off a computer

2) She knows how to take the DVD's out of their cases

3) She loves basketball

4) She calls mom "baby"

5) She loves music and playing the piano

6) She has funny dance moves

7) She has a great sense of humor

8) She knows how to move the laptop mouse

9) She wants to be held and cuddled to sleep

10) She only wants to eat candy or sweets all day

11) She knows where the Wii remotes are and likes to get them out and play with them

12) She makes the funniest yet cutest faces

Update: We were visiting Hyrum's parents and his family today and Nathan (his younger 12 year old brother) was running into the door and was pretended to get hurt. Kyla laughed and laughed and laughed every time he did it. She just thought it was the funniest thing in the world!! It was the cutest thing ever!
Another cool thing she did yesterday was she saw a whale on TV and called it a fish which it is, but she's never seen a whale in her life and we've never told her about whales! Where does she pick these things up?! AND today she was calling her yellow slinky a "nana" or banana and we figured out that I think she was relating the color of her slinky to a banana. Maybe she wasn't, but it makes sense and I guess it works for now! :) She's so smart!

Future Basketball Player

A couple days ago I was flipping through the channels to see if there was anything good to watch on TV which, as we all know, there rarely is. Kyla is so smart because as I was flipping through, I stopped it for just a split second on a Spurs vs Mavericks basketball game and right away she said, "Ball Ball Ball Ball Ball...". Even though the team wasn't on the court yet, she somehow knew that there was a ball involved. I think she saw the basketball hoops because sometimes she says ball when she sees those. Anyway, so I left it on that channel for a little while and she LOVED it! Looks like Daddy and Kyla will be having some daddy-daughter dates watching basketball and possibly even playing it as she gets older! I played basketball in middle school (although I wasn't any good) and Hyrum is really good and played a bunch too. She has it in her genes I guess; hopefully from her dad's side. :) It makes me wonder if she'll be a basketball player someday....
